    A basic rule of thumb is partial height walls will let sound passes from one room to another, and any opening in walls will do the same. To have good sound insulation, you need to have full-height wall to the underside of the structure, and seal off any openings in walls. Adding batt or rigid insulation to the walls will help greatly too.
