No one showed up to work the PSI Phoenix testing center

Unfortunately I experienced an “open” but locked and unstaffed PSI testing center today, so I’m sharing for awareness in case this happens to others. I was scheduled to take my exam today at 8:30 am at the PSI Innovative Minds center in Phoenix AZ. I arrived at 8:00 am (30 minutes before my exam time) and the door to the testing center suite was locked, with the blinds closed and a line of other people waiting to take tests outside. PSI was not showing any test centers as “closed” online, but there were no PSI staff present at this testing location. There was also no PSI phone number posted for us to call. I called an NCARB representative at 8:15 to file an initial report. I waited outside the testing center door until 9:00 am, and PSI staff never showed up. I called NCARB again to follow up and submitted an online report as well. Hopefully I’ll receive a seat credit to reschedule. Candidates take time off work and drive significant distances to get to these test centers, so this experience is completely unacceptable.

  Caroline,

  I am so sorry to hear that you had this issue this morning. I experienced the same thing this past Saturday at the same location. Clearly there is a problem with this testing center. I spoke with NCARB this morning and they should be launching an investigation. I also just posted about my same issue.

  I hope someone at NCARB see these post. This is unacceptable! This is an issue with this testing facility, and they need to figure out a solution fast!

  In my past experience - reach out to NCARB directly (like you said you did).

  It may not be immediate, but they typically solve problems with situations like this.

  I know this post is from years ago now but the same thing happened to me and the dozens of other people that had scheduled to take exams at the PSI testing center in Fall River, MA today. 

  It's especially frustrating because it's a Sunday so most other places/offices (and NCARB offices) are closed.

  Hopefully, I will be able to reschedule very soon. People shouldn't have to deal with this.

  After emailing and calling NCARB, they were able to credit my exam seat so I was able to reschedule quickly (rescheduled to take it just 4 days after I was originally supposed to take it).

  This was a bad situation, but NCARB resolved it as quickly and as best as they could. I'm trying to look on the bright side of things.
