    Tyrone,

I recommend going through Building Construction Illustrated and the Ballast Review Manual.  Additionally,  FEMA- Designing for Earthquakes- Chapters 4, 5, 8, 9 is a must read for seismic information. Karin's PPD & PDD Summary Sheets - v2.0 and Desk Crits are great for an overview of all topics as well. Cut scores are available here: https://www.ncarb.org/blog/what-score-do-you-need-to-pass-the-are. Shoot for a 71 on PPD for a pass. Good luck with the retake!

Thanks for answering my question! I know my question was vague but I was sure I passed this exam. After checking the cut scores I see this cut score is the highest at 71%. Do you recommend any third party materials?

BCI also may be a good 1st step for you. I suggest then reading all of Ballast (the PPD chapters) and after that all of ASC.  Reading of ASC will be quick.

Watch industry standard youtube videos about construction topics you are not familiar with.

Your score is very low - you need to pass area 3 & 4 securely.

    Keep studying!  Hope this helps!

Thanks for your suggestion. I will Start with BCI and ASC. Anything from ASC in particular?

I loved ASC.  I'd read the whole book.  It's easy to read; it's mostly graphics.  I read it in less than 2 weeks.  It will really help you synthesize all your knowledge about the systems.

You do need to understand the different structural systems and mechanical systems before reading it though.

    Hope this helps!

I feel you. Just took PPD and got 2’s and 3’s which was the same I got when I took it back in May 2017. I felt really good the whole test and have been leading a brown bag study group teaching the material at my firm. I was surprise to see a fail. Not sure what to study at this point.

My next strategy is to start taking every third-party's practice exams. I believe that should push me over because after a certain point studying more just doesn't seem to be making the difference for most candidates from what I hear.  BEST OF LUCK! You will pass.
