Selecting Project Delivery Method: Driving Factors
I'm currently taking the WeARE practice exams for PcM. In them, there are several questions regarding the specific primary and secondary factors in selecting a project delivery method.
For example, a question asks, "which project delivery method is appropriate when a client's primary and secondary concerns are, respectively, time and cost?" (Answer: CMc)
To me, the question sounds overly specific. Are we really going to be tested on knowing, in order, what the primary and secondary factors are? For example, if the WeARE question were rephrased to ask about the primary and secondary concerns, we'd be down to two options:
- Design-Build: 1) Risk, 2) Cost
- Design-Bid-Build: 1) Cost, 2) Risk
If anybody has insight on the type of questions asked about project delivery methods, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Hello! Hope all is well.
To answer your question, no. They will not ask you for the overly specific like that. The graph in the handbook is only so helpful and they will not ask directly referring to that. Do not use that as your only resource!
The reality of it is that most questions will be phrased as scenarios, and they will tell you specifically what a client is looking for (low cost, minimizing risk, or a fast-track schedule) and then you will have to select what the best answer would be.
When studying for the practice delivery methods, I would restrain from memorization. The questions asked in the exam will seem easy if you have an in-depth understanding of what each method provides.
Hope this helps! -E
