ADA/ESL candidates unable to schedule exams
Hi all, I wanted to see if anyone is also dealing with this issue. I want to schedule my exams as soon as possible and I am unable to.
Candidates with accommodations cannot schedule exams due to an issue between PSI and NCARB. According to PSI, regular candidates without accommodations can continue scheduling online, while accommodated candidates, who have no choice but calling on the phone to schedule, are unable to secure any appointments.
Regardless of the cause, the inequality here is very concerning and has a potentially discriminatory impact on candidates with accommodations.
I have already written to NCARB but I didn't get a response yet. Anyone else that can share their experience or can provide an update?

Hi davcm,
Thanks for bringing this up. I have been trying to schedule my exam for a week now. They don't have a timeline for when it will be resolved, and I agree, it's very discriminatory that people without accommodations are able to schedule. This is my last exam, and I had planned to finish all my exams by now. It is causing a lot of anxiety not know when I will be able to pass my exam.

I called NCARB today and was told there is no update. This issue has apparently been ongoing for at least two weeks, and the only information provided is that NCARB and PSI are working on it. No explanation has been given for the cause of the problem or when candidates can expect it to be resolved.
I was also told that one option is to ask them to remove my accommodation, schedule the exam, and then request that the accommodation be added back later.
For anyone affected by this issue, I would encourage you to contact NCARB directly to complain about it, the more candidates who report the problem, the more visibility and urgency it may receive.
Their phone number is (202) 879-0520.

I had the same issue weeks ago. I called PSI to reschedule my exam, and they told me they no longer allow exams with accommodations in the same location where I'd been taking my past exams. After several calls, I was able to reschedule my appointment in a different location, so I will have to drive almost two hours to get there. It was really frustrating.
