2010 ADA standards vs 2017 ANSI 117.1
These two codes require two different sizes for the clear floor space and turning circle (30x48 vs 30x54 and 60" vs 67"). I have been told that unless the question specifically states to use a specific code, I am to use the 2010 ADA standards (which has the smaller clearances). With code we are always told to use the more restrictive so I feel like we should default to the 2017 ANSI. Has anyone else been told the same?

Which is the more restrictive? Always follow that if the two are given as choices. You will quickly find that when more cities adopt IBC 2018, 2021, and 2024 more, you will be using 2017 ANSI. Remember 2010 ADA is law at minimum, but ANSI is an adoption to help get there and may be more restrictive. We live in a time where codes and requirements are quickly shifting.
