PPD Question -- Roofing type
Hey all, I am going through several books and would like input on a PPD question about flat roofing types. Which type is best in cold weather. The exams seem to go into minute details, and I'd like to know why one for this weather. Flat roofs are covered in several materials, but this particular concept I have not found Thank you in advance!

Well, I see you've had no takers, so I'll post. The answer is a single-ply roofing material (and there are a bunch of types of single-ply materials). Single-ply roofing is more resistant to the damaging effects of weather. If a ballasted EPDM roof is one of the choices, I'd pick that. If not, it'd be one of the other single-ply options. Read up on roofs. See Table 22.3 in the new Ballast Exam Review Guide, and read 22-18 thru 22-23. This is a question that forces you to synthesize multiple pieces of information - a flat roof AND cold weather. Hope this helps!
