"External Keyboard and Mouse" and "Ethernet Cable:" Requirement or Recommendation
I recently did a test run with Prometric on my 15.5" laptop, on wifi without an external keyboard. The proctor informed me that my testing station was acceptable.
However, in the most recent email from NCARB, some things to "do" include using an external keyboard and mouse and using an ethernet cable. Are these requirements, or recommendations? Please note that I do not see an external keyboard/mouse and ethernet as requirements listed in the ARE Handbook.

Eric,
Yes, your testing setup is acceptable, but not recommended as the exam is formatted for 19" monitors or larger. Using a larger external monitor would allow you a smoother testing experience with less scrolling, but would also necessitate an external keyboard and mouse due to keeping the laptop lid closed. And last, we do recommend an ethernet connection as it's typically more stable than wifi.
Refer to pages 13-14 of the ARE Guidelines for information on all of these items.
