Fire Sprinkler Requirement for Group R Occupancy

Can someone please confirm if all group R occupancies (R1, R2, R3, R4) always require automatic sprinklers throughout the building per IBC ?

  Sprinklers are required in group R occupancies per IBC 420.5 and 903.2.8.

  Go right to the source as stated above - 903.2.8.  Note that there are a couple of exceptions listed for this.
