Houston-area Prometric cancellations
In the past 2 weeks, Prometric has cancelled 4 of my appts and auto-rescheduled to a separate location an hour & half away and to 2021. Each time, I've had to reschedule back to the nearby testing center and hope they don't cancel it again. They've given no reason, no notice, nothing! There is no information regarding the center (Harwin #0083) being closed. What is going on??
It is rare I have extra time on my hands to study and don't want it all to go to waste while the rolling clock keeps ticking. I have to constantly check my email & NCARB account to ensure my appointments haven't changed.
Who do I contact?

Yep, Prometric just cancelled my exam scheduled for Harwin (Houston) on 28 November and randomly re-scheduled me for 2 January at Space Center. This is the fourth time Harwin has cancelled one of my scheduled exams and now I will be into 2021 before I can complete my license. I am livid, but of course there is nothing to be done.

For some reason the Harwin location is no accepting tests this year. I have gone and rescheduled all my test to the Space Center location, its a bit of a drive but its not freezing and its a tad bit cleaner. Not sure why the websites have allowed so many to schedule at the Harwin location its been down since testing re-opened

Jenna, I hadn't bought the seat until this morning while I waited to see how the whiteboard limbo would play out since I wasn't eligible until Nov 18, so no seat credit loss. When you then click to schedule that's when the wait starts. I did see a few slots up in Tyler as well, but that was around 10am this morning.

Yeah, forget it. I went to reschedule and there were 4,951 people 'in line' ahead of me. I guess I'll be testing in January. Unless they cancel that too.
I'm glad you aren't out any additional money over this.
And to Yuliana, thanks for the tip about Space Center not being so cold as Harwin! I was always so freezing there, even with a sweater and heavy pants on. That will be a nice break.

What a nightmare! I have 3 test scheduled at Harwin in the next couple weeks. I thought about switching over to Space Center the 2nd time they moved my test, but no tests were available through the end of the year. I have a test on Saturday and now I'm wondering if it's even open at all. I am dreading this change coming in December.

I found a number for the Harwin location through a reddit thread. Thankfully they are still open and I'm on their list. The reason for the cancellations is due to their hours not being updated. They are no longer open on Sundays or after 5pm (both of which I had previously scheduled) The other reason is a medical test they have prioritized over all the others.
With all the rescheduling, none of my tests are at ideal times - but it is what it is! I need my scratch paper!

Hey Everyone,
We have submitted all of your Harwin test center questions to Prometric and asked for clarification on these issues. First, Prometric has confirmed that this test center is no longer open on Sundays which has impacted some exams. Second, they confirmed that the test center is now open from 8:30 am - 8:00 pm. The adjustment to the hours has also impacted some scheduled exams.
If you continue to have issues with scheduling/rescheduling an exam, I recommend reaching out to NCARB Customer Service and they will be able to assist you.

I just had two of my exams cancelled for no reason at the NASA location. They were scheduled for november and december. It was hard enough to find seats on the weekends as i cant take time off work to take my tests. Im also paying for black spectacles so this is costing me more money!! Anyone know why they are doing this???

Ugh. Sorry to hear this. I'm glad you got a bit of notice, though. It looks like Space Center has a 'scheduled' closure on 26 November, but that's probably not your test date anyway! It's really frustrating that they don't have to give you a reason.
I sincerely hope the new testing center that NCARB is changing to soon will be a little more reliable/professional about honoring exam appointments.
