How to improve economy of concrete formwork?

Help! They’re is one question in Ballast practice questions as below . I believe reusing formwork is the way to make it so I think answer A is the right one cuz the rectangular column at grid B& grid 2 is the only irregular one. But Ballast answer is D and its explanation is all about how to reduce the amount of concrete used in the construction. Am I the only one who thinks it’s a “formwork” question?

  It is BECAUSE concrete formwork is often reused that the answer is D.  If the contractor were to form out the corner, that would take extra time and forms, and forms they likely could not reuse.  If they were to make the wall the same thickness, the contractor would likely reuse forms from another job to form up the wall.

  Katie, thanks for the reply! But how about answer A? Making all columns rectangular also reduce the form work ? It seems they still need another rectangular form work for the right bottom column?

  There isn't enough information in the question to tell us if A is even feasible structurally, and the question specifically asks about improving the economy of formwork only.
