Testing After a Break from Practicing/School
Hi! So I graduated in 2012 with my B. Arch, worked in a small office for 1.5yrs (and 3 summers during school), then had my first baby and have been home with my kids. So, out of the office for almost 6 years now. Anyway, planning to start studying and want to take at least one exam by the end of the year, probably two, to be doing something before heading back to work in about 2 years. Does anyone feel like there is a preferred order to take the exams, or a preferred first one? There were only 3 of us in my office, so I got a decent range of experiences, but I certainly have the most real world experience with CDs, so I'm thinking maybe PDD? I'm also good with numbers and generally a good test taker, so I'm not too worried about calculations and the like.
Thanks!

PDD is a good starting point for you based on your background. Make sure you read the related AIA forms at least 2 or 3 times.

Good catch. I did not check the AIA Handbook when I posted the last remark. Interesting to see NCARB actually specifically notes: “None of the standard list of AIA Contract Documents related to the ARE have specific content covered in the Project Development & Documentation division.”
A101, A201 and B101 is important for all phases of architectural practice. These three documents should be read at least 2 or 3 times for ARE exams in general.
