144. According to AIA Document A201, General Conditions of the Contract for Construction, the party responsible for determining the time limits for construction is the:

(A) owner

(B) contractor

(D) contractor and subcontractors

According to the book the correct answer is (D): contractor and subcontractors. However, when reading the solutions part, the first sentence says: "the owner is responsible for determining the time limits for construction".

I am almost certain that the correct answer is (A), the owner. I believe the book made a mistake. The contractor is just responsible for developing a construction schedule that allows construction within the owner's established time frame.

Any thoughts?

When the contractor bids he has to stick with the time frame gave it by the owner, the always talk about the cost going over the architect estimate; in that they have at least 3 options the meet that cost, but nobody says a thing about time

I am using the same book. You are correct and the book has an error. If you look at the answer explanations, 144 says the answer is A, Owner and the explanation supports that, directly contradicting the answer key at the end of the test.
