2015 IBC Min. STC rating

One blackspectacle's question is asking what is the min. STC rating for walls between dwelling units. Does anyone know how to interpret the highlighted portion of the code? Does it mean the min. STC can be 45? Thanks!

  Qing,
  The answer is 50 unless the exam tells you that the wall has been field tested for airborne noise per ASTM E90. The exam will be clear. It will either tell you that its been field tested, and therefore the answer is 45, or if you are not told this, the answer is 50.
