Thermal Mass Cooling
Hi all,
I am a bit confused while reading the ASC. I understand how thermal mass works for absorbing the heat during the day and releasing it at night too warm up the space. (passive solar heating) However, I dont quite get how this strategy work for thermal mass heating. so we need night time ventilation to cool down the thermal mass - but how is this cooling down the room?
Can anyone please help me with this?
Thanks in advance,
-
Yi, sorry I miss understood your question. If you look at page 229, They are placing thermal mass in the ceiling to collect the heat and then they are moving cold air across a mass to cool the room and chimney affect to move the hot air out.
To be honest in my opinion the system would work more efficiently without the thermal mass. By blowing air directly into the room you can remove voc along with heat.
