PPD exam occupancy load
I have a question of the PPD exam:
When you are asked to calculate the occupants for the water closet or lavatories, are you supposed to use IBC code(which is the only code provided by the exam)? Or you should use the plumbing code that you memorized. Plumbing code is always 2X building code. For example B occupant, building code is 100/ppl, and plumbing code is 200/ppl, similar for assembly occupants.
Thank you.

I dont know about Plumbing Code but by what you just explained if you need one fixture for every 200 people in plumbing code and one for every 100 in IBC it seems IBS is requiring double , there always go with the more stringent code in this case IBC.
All in all I dont think that we are supposed to have any code but IBC memorized for this exam, even codes adopted by certain states are not going to show up... -
Bicen,
Definitely IBC. You will not be asked to anything code-wise on any of these exams unless it is from IBC. Period.
No need to memorize these plumbing charts either - can't imagine doing that. They will give you those on the test if the exam asks you to calculate the number of plumbing fixtures required. Just know how to use the tables and be familiar with the use groups, and you should be prepared enough to handle such a question.
