Bioretention location
Hi,
I just read about bioretetion location and it says the ideal location is “areas upland from inlets or outfalls that receive sheet flow from graded area.” Can anybody explain what “areas upland from inlets” means?
Thank you.

Bioretention seems to be referring to retaining water in an area for a bit of time. "Areas upland from inlets" implies that you want to be at a grade above where the water is draining down to. The inlet is where the water will enter the ground from the surface and is often a place where debris and leaves can gather which isn't ideal for bioretention ponds. I found more info here
And here is a 95 page pdf with even more info.
