Now available: ARE 5.0 Handbook and ARE 5.0 Guidelines
Hi all,
Updated editions of the ARE 5.0 Handbook and ARE 5.0 Guidelines are now available on NCARB's website!
In the Handbook, check out the updates in the Reference Matrix, starting on page 177, for updated versions of AIA contract docs, IBC, and other resources. The key references listed at the end of each division have also been updated. Reminder: starting October 1, ARE 5.0 will reference the newest versions of AIA contract documents and the 2015 IBC.
In the Guidelines, you'll see the updated test fees on page 13. Again, this is effective as of October 1. Also note on page 24 that score verifications of failed divisions need to be requested within 60 days from the date of the administration.
Are you planning to test in the next 12 months? You can now purchase multiple seat credits at one time, so you can save $25 per division before the updated fees go into effect on October 1! Remember that unused seat credits expire one year after purchase.

Hi Derek - the Handbook is linked in my post above! And again here. Or you can go to the NCARB website: click on Pass the ARE, then Prepare for ARE 5.0. You'll see the Handbook on the top right, under Resources.
Hi Jarrett - the AIA contract documents are available through a link in your NCARB Record. The link will redirect to AIA's website, where you'll see a list of the recommended contracts to review for the exam. After clicking on each contract, be sure to scroll down to "free sample preview" under Resources.

Can you expand on what 'other resources' have been updated? It would be nice if the changes were highlighted in the handbook. Would it be unreasonable for NCARB to do this?
I never know whats changed so I end up doing a side by side comparison of the whole document... Feels like I really shouldn't be wasting my study time on this but I want to make sure I catch all the changes!
