    The main thing to know about soils is the general strength and mixes (GW, GP, SW, SC, etc.), and how to approach them in terms of buildability. Do you intend on using shallow foundation systems but discover the soil is mostly a clay mixture? How do you approach building on sandy silt soils? What soils deem caisson foundations as an appropriate option?

    For more details on how to use the Soil Texture Triangle see this youtube video. You should at-least be able to read the boring log for the AREs.
