    Hi,

    3/4 of those 40 pages are the structural properties of a bunch of different steel shapes.  You might use one or two numbers from up to 3 of those tables across all 6 exam divisions.

    The first 10 pages are by far most important - if you're familar with the graphic load, shear, and moment diagrams for the basic load conditions that appear in the first 10 pages, that'll get you half or more of the way there - even without the formulae that go with those diagrams.  Note also that the first page is a table of contents so that you can quickly navigate to the relevant steel shapes quickly without having to hunt too much for the one or two questions that might use those tables.

    I looked at the structural references exactly one time during my exams. The question was to confirm the shear or moment diagram for a simple loaded beam. I opened to page 1 of the reference book and there was the answer. Never looked at the rest of it.
