Finally Done!
I wish this feeling and day for every single person who is going through this process! I took my last exam on Monday and got my provisional pass and thought to share my experience and some small tips, hoping it will help some to finish their exams too.
I used Amberbook as the main study material and found it very helpful, BUT I will highly recommend to skip AB for PcM and PjM and half of CE and just get it for the remaining three.
AB is not helpful when it comes to contracts and the main focus of the practice management exams.
The best option is to download those contracts go over them as many time as possible and read the chapter of AHPP related to each exam.
For other exams AB was great but as a foundation and not the whole resource. Unless you have a decade or so of experience working in every phase and different scale of projects, you will need to review some of those books in addition to AB.
I read The Architectural Graphics Standard, The Architect's Studio Companion, Site Planning and Design Handbook, MEEB, and Problem Seeking.
Depending on which topics I needed more help I read these books fully or just skim through them.
As for the day of exam, I would clear 3 full days before the exam day. First day I would read all my notes and flashcards, second day I will take as many practice exams as I could. And the third day I'll review anything that I was still struggling with. I would not review anything on the day and scheduled all my exams in the morning to be fresh and clear headed.
During the exam I would avoid looking at the timer and would only look after midpoint. I would plan to leave 1 to 1.5 hour for the case studies and would divide the remaining time between the other questions.
The best tool is the highlighter. I would highlight anything that seemed important in the question. This way I would automatically read slower and not jump over words that might make me pick the wrong answer and would help me if I would go back to that question at the end if I had time.
My last tip would be to go in expecting not knowing a few things! Having this mindset helped me to stay calm during the exam after seeing a question that was so out of left field that I had no idea what it was asking me to do. These exams are stressful as is and panicking over the fact that you don't understand the logic or concept of a question will just throw you off your game.
Hope these were helpful and I wish you all best of luck!
