Failed again
I’m took the ppd exam this week for the third time and failed again. I haven’t got the official score back so I can’t say my margin away from passing this time but the last two time I have been within 50 points. I felt like I was in such a better spot I made over three hundred note cards over mep systems, structure, building materials and site work and still not enough. The only thing I can imagine is getting in my way at this point is overthinking the questions. This really seems to be a running theme for me and I keep finding myself feeling like the questions are missing information for me to give a correct answer. I have working in a firm for going on four years now and have been practically managing my own projects with oversight for a while now. I know what the code says I know how to evaluate a building and select the best systems to fall with in an owners budget and meet their goals but still nothing. I have gone through all of the black spectacles videos and taken those practice test and the ncarb practice test. I am going to keep using them but it is getting to a point where I am memorizing answers more than I am learning how to answer the questions. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi - Can you try my PPD Worksheet? I also struggled with PPD but after "designing" several imaginary projects and running through the IBC and site information, along with passive strategies, mechanical systems it made more sense (for me anyway). Good luck! https://are5community.ncarb.org/hc/en-us/community/posts/34153376159511-PPD-Planning-Worksheet
