NCARB process after final Exam
I am hoping to find an updated answer/advice as there are similar posts more than a year old. Finally passed P & A and now studying for PPD (again, this thing will not go away!). My record is in New York State. I see after the final pass there is an email from NCARB to transmit to the state. During this time, do I fill out and pay the initial registration fee for New York State, or do I have to receive something before filling the paperwork. Anyone in NY who knows the process let me know. Or please correct me if I have the steps wrong:
1. Receive pass test result on final exam
2. NCARB email indicated record is complete and transmitted to the state (exam, AXP, degree), could take 45 days (this is what the older forum posts say) to complete.
3. While record is being transmitted/reviewed, fill out initial registration form and pay fee.
4. Receive email from State registration is complete...congratulations
5. Check state license website for your name and number to appear, tell everyone, celebrate.

For me this is what happened:
- Passed the last exam and record was transmitted automatically by NCARB.
- I received an email from New York State Board for Architecture asking me to update my work experience (i.e. "Form 1", the form was attached in the email to me) and email back to them. I had to itemize all my work experience. It explicitly said "do not write refer to NCARB record".
- The state board checked the work experience against their requirement (different from NCARB's requirement) and told me how much additional experience was required (5 months for me). The checking took about 6 weeks.
- Once the required additional experience is completed, supervisor needs to email the state board "Form 4".
- I don't know what happens next yet. I can report back in 5 months.
About forms and fee -- in order to be eligible to sit for the exams I submitted New York State Application for Licensure Form 1 and a fee of $377. This happened before I took any exams. After passing the exams I had to update Form 1 as mentioned above and haven't had to pay any other fee (yet).

Thanks for sharing your experience - I find it the most helpful after searching across the internet and failing to find a confirmation on the scenario where you had already submitted and paid the initial application prior to the exams. Anyway, have you been asked to pay another fee? And do you know where to look for the NYS additional experience requirement? The link in NCARB's email to NYSED doesn't work -_-
