Any good material to improve program planning skill？

Hi ARE community，

Just wondering are there any good materials/books about the planning/ how to organize different programs？Realize there might be bubble diagram questions in exams.

  Check out Programming for Design by Edith Cherry. It really helped me wrap my head around programming. I liked it much better then the William Pena book Problem seeking, which is very abstract. Programming for Design is about real projects and how to apply it to practice.
