Who is responsible for HVAC/Structure clash on the site?
Hi ARE community,
Just wondering who is responsible if architect notice there is a HVAC system/ beams clash during the site visit? Should we blame on contractor or seek help from engineering consultants?
Thanks!

As an architect, you should go back and double check your team’s structural plans and mechanical plans to see if the conflicts was a result of your team’s errors on plans, OR the conflict is a result of the contractor messing it up in the field, i.e. building it NOT according to the plans. If the contractor has built it per the plans, then the conflict is most likely the architect’s team’s fault.
I am not surprised to see these kinds of conflicts. I have seen plumbing engineer place a roof drain right on top of an electrical switchgear, and I caught this before the plans went out for bid. It is an architect’s job to coordinate the architect’s consults’ work.
