PSI Locations in Massachusetts WORST EVER
Is anyone else having a nightmare of an experience with PSI??
I passed my first exam April 2022 and was beyond ecstatic and happy! It was a Prometric center in MA, which I was pretty used to those. ALWAYS clean, security check on point, great facilities.
Since they switched to PSI I haven't been able to properly take an exam. 1st tried in Fall River in July 2022, it was the worst experience ever - the testing center was super dirty, and the man responsible for it barely knew how to turn the computer on. He could not get my exam to open, called NCARB, and had the phone on speaker for over 40 minutes INSIDE THE TESTING ROOM - obviously bothering other test takers...after about an hour of no response, he finally dismissed me and said to call NCARB.
Tried 2x in the Charlestown location - both times they simply canceled the exam a day before with only an email saying it was canceled.... WHAT?!
Then tried West Springfield which is 3 hours from me - got there there was a line of people out in the hallway because they had lost power in the building - the building falling down, and the person responsible was swearing at everyone...after about 40 minutes I got to test, in the middle of the test the computer started to glitch I could not see the case study screen - they did not have headphones or sound buffers, etc
In neither location, they ever did a security check on me. I am allowed a break and I can eat the guy from West Springfield wanted me to throw my food in the trash and said I couldn't eat.
They are simply NOT apt to deal with these tests. Massachusetts has prometric centers everywhere and they are great (I've tested in quite a few of them - never had an issue)
To me, it just sounds like NCARB was trying to save money and did a huge disservice for us actually taking these tests.

I had a similar experience testing at PSI, Massachusetts back in January. It was so horrible, I reported it in my survey. The staff will not leave me along during my break, I am not interested in hearing about her personal life, I was there to take the exam. I should be allowed to eat some snack during my break since it s a long exam. There was no security check in. It is such a mess and indeed a horrible experience to deal with at the testing day !! Why is NCARB not doing anything about these testing centers. it is just so unprofessional.

I have also had a similar experience testing in Mass. In the past year i've taken about 9 exams. In that I have gone to 5 Different centers in Mass and 1 in New York. The one in New York was SO much better. I have had everything from computer crashes,multiple exams cancelled, Proctors that fall asleep and one proctor saying she had never heard of the ARE and taking over an hour to get my exam started. I like Milford and Malden best, that being said Milford just canceled one of my exams for 4/22 with no explanation. The next available date is not until late May which is super frustrating.
I will say if you have a significantly bad experience that prohibits you from properly taking the exam report it to ncarb, it is possible to get a seat credit in some cases.

agreed I took an exam at the Norwell testing center the room was extremely small! people were sitting way too close to each other, there were no barriers, the computer was so old that it kept crashing and the admin had to come and restart the test for me. I'm not sure how they passed as a testing center!
