FLORIDA Hours required to take the ARE?
Hi!
I'm 1.5 semesters away from obtaining my master's degree in an accredited institution in Florida.
I have no AXP recorded hours since I completed an accelerated master's program and decided to focus on school full time and not work for the time being.
Florida offers early eligibility to take the ARE, but I'm not sure if a number of hours are required for that.
Does anyone know?

Hi Maria,
In most jurisdictions, candidates can begin taking the ARE when they have met the education requirement. In the case of Florida, that is a professional degree from a NAAB-accredited program. We recommend reaching out to the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation: Board of Architecture and Interior Design at 850-717-1982 to confirm when you can begin taking the ARE.

The number posted above is the general number for the DBPR Division of Professions. A direct contact for the Board of Architecture and Interior Design is Terri.McEwen@myfloridalicense.com.
Also note that Florida requires a pre-licensure Wind Mitigation Techniques course - which are the Wind Forces Parts 1-5 CE courses offered by NCARB. To meet the minimum requirements, you'll need to take two of the five courses. To my recollection, these courses are free for licensure candidates. My advice would be to take these courses as you prepare for PPD and PDD, as they align closely with the exam content. When it comes time to apply for your license, simply attach the certificates from these courses to your online application.
Best of luck.
