Firestopping material
Is my Ballast ARE5 Practice Problems resource out-of-date regarding this firestop question?

Ching's Building Const. Illust. shows 2x wood blocking indicated as firestops in multiple locations. 🤔

I’ve seen foam used as fire stopping but I was not sure what the material was. I just looked into it and silicone can withstand very high temperatures and can be used in a UL 94 rated assembly. It does not catch fire very easily and it does not conduct heat and it is an easy application process to seal cracks to stop the spread of fire. Remember fire retardant does not mean fireproof. My understanding is silicone would be the best answer here.
