Passed PPD and PDD within weeks of each other - Amber Book
Hi All - just wanted to share my experience finishing the ARE's. PPD and PDD were my last two remaining tests, and the amount of material was daunting. Luckily I found out about Amber Book and I highly recommend it to everyone.
I used it for 3 months to study for these two tests simultaneously, and used Black Spectacles for practice exams (Amber Book has a pretty good practice exam also). I highly suggest taking notes. It takes longer to get through the videos, but I found it most effective to retain the info. You also must do the "flashcards" section, it presents new info not covered in the videos, some of which will certainly come up in the tests. The weekend before my PPD exam, I reviewed their written study guide, and it really helped recall and retain the info. I used no other study materials and passed both tests on the first try.
In my opinion, it would be a waste of your time and brain capacity to study for PPD and PDD separately, there is so much overlap. I scheduled my two exams 3 weeks apart, but for these two tests especially, I would suggest you schedule them within a week of each other, honestly! I would've used Amber Book for all 6 tests if I had found out sooner. Depending on your schedule outside of work of course, I think it is doable to use Amber Book to study for all 6 exams in 3-4 months.
Good luck everyone!

I studied Amber book for PPD and PDD but failed my PPD test yesterday. I thought there was a lot of questions on the test that I did not see in the material (I skipped Pro-professional). I need to take PDD and pass these two within the next 3-months before my rolling clock expires my other tests transitioned from 4.0 and now am wondering if it makes sense to go ahead and take PDD, when I did not pass PPD! Any feedback would be appreciated

Sorry to hear that. Did you study the "flash cards" on Amber Book? There was a lot of material in the flash cards that was not covered in the videos and came up on the PPD exam, most noticeably sections on seismic and electrical raceways. I did not study the professional practice section on Amber Book either, since I took those exams previously. I know that Michael from Amber Book would suggest to yes go ahead and take PDD anyway. If you still have your Amber Book subscription, I would take the PDD practice exam and see how you do. If your subscription is expired, and you really did not feel good while you were taking the PPD exam, perhaps reschedule to allow yourself more time to study for both exams. If I recall correctly, I think you need to wait a month before you can retake an exam? If that's the case, I would make sure to allow time to take PDD a second time in your 3 month window.
