Online Proctoring - my First Crash and Prometric program glitch without resolution
Hey all,
I've took my fourth online proctor exam (a retake) yesterday, and had my first crash. I was around the 2.5 hour mark, and going over marked questions when the program suddenly crashed.
I did all the same steps as I had in my previous 3 un-interrupted home proctor exam: hard wired in via ethernet cable, made sure firewalls were off, used the highlighter sparingly. Seeing the exam close out made my heart sink and i honestly had no idea what I was supposed to do.
Flustered, I clicked the customer support 'headphones' button on the exam-launch page. This was completely useless - only to find the prometric support auto bot repeatedly and automatically ending my chat as i sought for help and guidance on reconnecting. I knew i only had 3 overall chances to log back in successfully before i would likely have to either wait 60 days or reschedule the exam. At this point I decided to unplug my ethernet and prayed wifi would work for the time i had left. After about 2 minutes of the prometric auto-reply chat failure cycle, I tried logging in again, and got reconnected. Went thru the security check in process (where they also made me remove my detached numpad also for the first time - wheres that quality control standardized process from prometric!?) and was brought back into the exam, right where i had left off. The problem this time was that the chat box (in the upper left corner) would not fully disappear, and I was not able to fully read the question I had marked.
I replied to the chat box with several messages, seeking help from my proctor with 0 response. I was worried if i spoke out, it would disqualify me so i refrained. I waited a few minutes, but impatient and anxious that my system would boot me out, i decided to end the exam.
Luckily, It was the last question I marked for review, so i took my chances.
I'm wondering if anyone had a similar experience (with the chat box blocking part of the question)/ unresponsive proctor and can you advise on what to do in the future??
