Hi Guys, I don't understand the highlighted sentence in below image. Why are the vertical dimensions of the items so low? I hope someone can explain it for me. Thanks very much in advance.

  I think it means that the deeper the obstruction is (like a beam) the farther away it needs to be.  

  See this website, https://www.qrfs.com/blog/225-distance-rules-part-2-sprinkler-head-obstruction-distance-rules-for-standard-spray-fire-sprinklers/ look at TABLE 10.3.6.1.3 and TABLE 10.3.6.1.4 

  A is the horizontal distance and B is the vertical.

  The Ballast book needs to re-word that section.
