    Hi,
You should consider studying the reference books listed for each ARE Division on p. 113 of the ARE Guidelines, with the latest edition issued as of June 1st, 2026.

    Hi Simidhaliwal,

PcM is, for a lot of licensure candidates, one of the more surprising divisions.  It's short, but there are more questions involving calculations than many candidates expect.  PcM covers many business management, HR, and firm staffing topics that most candidates are relatively unfamiliar with at the point in their career that they take the ARE - as an intern, you're not sitting in with principals or HR when they're calculating staff utilization rates, and that kind of topic is also relatively poorly taught in most Pro Practice courses in most architecture schools.

Plan not to be surprised, and you should be ok.

    Best,
    Ralph, the Amber Book Team
