60-day Retake Period // When does it reset ?
Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can clarify the retake policy because I may be misunderstanding how the timing works.
I understood the rule to mean that you can retake the same division after 60 days, but no more than 3 times within a 12-month period from your first attempt. That makes sense. With that in mind, I waited after my third attempt until I was eligible to take the division a fourth time. Now, even though more than a year has passed since my first attempt, I’m being told I have to wait 93 days before I can take it a fifth time.
I assumed that once I was outside the original 12-month window, the only remaining restriction would be the 60-day wait between attempts. I did not realize there might be another rule affecting the timing, or that the 12-month limit would continue to impact later attempts in this way.
Has anyone dealt with this before or know how NCARB calculates the retake eligibility dates?

Hi Zboheim,
The rule as I understand it is "no more than 3 attempts in any 12-month window". See the first paragraph on Pg. 41 of the Guidelines.Best,
