Finally passed PDD (after multiple attempts) and done with ARE!
I had failed this exam multiple times and honestly almost gave up about a year ago. At that point, I made a conscious decision to step back and focus on other aspects of my professional growth instead of fixating on this one test.
This time I used Elif and Amber Book, studied 1–2 hours a day in a focused 25-day sprint, took two practice exams, and then scheduled the test.
I used AI tools extensively to deepen my understanding. Whenever I reviewed practice questions, I didn’t just look at why the correct answer was right—I asked about every answer choice. I questioned things I previously would have just memorized. Asking even the “obvious” questions made a huge difference. Understanding why something works matters far more than simply remembering it.
I also used NotebookLM to generate comparison charts and flashcards automatically. That helped me focus on digesting the material instead of feeling overwhelmed by organizing it.
Another strategy that worked for me: accepting that the scope of PDD is massive, and it’s unrealistic to remember everything. Instead of trying to master all topics equally, I focused on maximizing the questions I knew I could get right. For me, that meant prioritizing the case studies. During the exam, I budgeted nearly two hours for them because I knew that was where I could perform strongest.
This journey is different for everyone. What works for one person may not work for another. But I truly want to encourage anyone still in the process: believe in yourself and find the strategy that fits you.
Passing—or not passing—does not define your value as a professional or as a person.
