PA- Pass- First Attempt
I’m excited to share that I just received my official PASS on the PA exam, on my first attempt. I’m thankful to God for every step in this journey, the fails and the gains.
I studied for about 8–10 weeks, averaging 18–20 hours per week, mainly on weekends.
One of the main keys to pass the ARE's, in my opinion, is joining a study group — the accountability and support are needed in every step in this Journey. I truly couldn’t have done it without the study group.
I used Elif’s study materials and quizzes, and as I shared after passing PPD, I’ll say it again: one of my weaknesses was knowing how to break down the questions and approach the answers, Elif’s quizzes and explanations helped me significantly improve how I analyze and answer the questions.
I also used Hyperfine, which kept me structured and on track through the weekly assignments.
I practiced Elif's Quizzes, Ballast Questions, WE ARE, NCARB exam, Young Architects.
Now that PA, PPD, PDD, and CE are complete, I’m moving on to PcM and PjM. (I'm taking my exams in different order)
Wishing everyone the best of luck and all success. You’ve got this!

Hi Khelmy! Congratulations on passing your exams and thank you for sharing your study resources.
Regarding the Elif study material, do they have Mock tests for the PA division? I ve realized it works better for me so I can simulate the exam.
I am using the Amber book and Black spectacles. By any chance do you know any other resource that have timed mock exams?
I appreciate your help

juanguidaw - PPD and PDD are probably the toughest two exams, and the majority of us struggled with them, so don’t get discouraged.
I recommend using new resources to fill the gaps. Elif’s videos and quizzes were really helpful for me, specially for mechanical and structural topics. Her practice exams helped me a lot as well.
There is a lot of helpful material on the Young Architect website, check them out if you have not already.
I strongly recommend spending more time reading HCL, Architect’s Studio Companion, as well as Building Structures Illustrated - Ching_D_K, this book is super helpful for structural systems.
The most important thing is to give yourself enough time to practice a lot of questions, then go back and study the topics related to the questions you are getting incorrect answers, your incorrect answers will guide you to the areas where you need to close the gaps.
Good Luck.
