Stylus Pad for Online Exams?
Hi NCARB + Candidates,
With the new whiteboard feature functioning about the same level as drawing with your mouse on 'Microsoft Paint', I am curious to know if purchasing a stylus pad would lessen the impact of taking away pencil and paper. This could be used for those of us not equipped with a surface laptop or stylus pen with our personal computers, and bridge the gap between the hand and pencil. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Three comments to this question
#1 - NCARB is not allowing for the use of a STYLUS or a WACAM PAD or anything like that.
#2 - The "Whiteboard" will NOT erase when you take breaks. You can COPY AND PASTE text from the exam and references to the whiteboard.
#3 - Everyone will be facing the "whiteboard" handicap. and that will be reflected in the final scores of EVERYONE who takes the exam. And Therefore the whiteboard handicap will be factored into the passing cut score.
I hope this helps relieve the "whiteboard" factor rage a little bit.
My point is, keep focusing on learning the content, and do not worry so much about the crappy software that they force you t work with. It is bad, and they know it, and they tried to make it not as bad as they could. But everyone is in this together.
Other than that, yes, it is MS Paint.

Yeah, Rachel that makes sense. But NCARB will not address that alternative.
Mark, I don't agree with you on #3. We don't know how NCARB will score these or account for the "handicap" of the whiteboard. They claim that it won't be graded on a curve but the curve will be set to maintain the qualifying standards of a practicing architect or something like that. (Insert eye-roll) I have no faith that NCARB will do what's best for the candidates.
I do agree that you should focus on learning the content however you cannot be fairly assessed on that knowledge if you are not given the appropriate tools to demonstrate that, and you leave yourself to the mercy of NCARB.
