or wait. is this equation E (in Fc) = lumens (in lumens?) / area (in square feet)? or what is the denominator units in this equation? lumens?
so lumens per square foot is the same as four-candles?

To answer your question, yes. However, I recommend checking out Norbert Lechner's Heating, Cooling, & Lighting. He explains this in Chapter 12. Elsewhere in his book he also explains the cosine law, or how to calculate the quantity of light hitting a surface for a given angle of incidence. Once you read and understand it, everything on illuminance should be clear. (FYI, I recommend skipping MEEB for lighting - it goes much deeper into it than the scope of the exam.)

    Hope that helps. Good luck!
