White Board Demonstration Feedback
Dear NCARB,
I just tested out the demo exam with the white board feature. I really do hope you grade on a curve or at least offer retakes at no cost to us. I spent more time trying to figure how to use this feature than answering the question. There is no way that candidate who is under a lot of stress already can successfully pull this off. What you are essentially giving us to work with is Microsoft paint. This is definitely another set back on top of the set backs we already have to deal with in 2020. When you addressed the changes and the online proctoring, i kept an open mind because i know a lot of people who will genuinely benefit. I don't think a piece of scratch paper will pose a liability if test moderators do their job. Please offer a different option, and/or make retakes free. It's only fair. This is very disappointing.

Having now used the practice white board, I think it's as bad as we imagined. You cannot hold shift down to create a straight line. The whiteboard does not stay open when you go from question to question. The whiteboard overlaps the questions and answer selections - WHY is this not a split screen view??

Dear NCARB,
I tried the whiteboard tool for a couple of minutes and it does not compare to scratch paper in any way. The board needs to ask themselves what was their intent in allowing candidates the use of scratch paper. I believe that if they are honest with themselves about this, they could not support this new tool.
I thought about listing the many aspects of the whiteboard tool that are not functioning correctly, but making a list implies that this is something that is fixable. It is not. Please do not let the tail wag the dog on this one NCARB. Please address the need for scratch paper through online proctoring, their must be more then one solution here.

Dear NCARB,
This whiteboard tool is not a replacement for scratch paper in any way shape or form. It is unconscionable to accept money and administer an ARE exam with this whiteboard as a tool.
The computers in my testing center are already so pathetically slow that the pdf's take minutes to load and reload, so I cannot even imagine what trying to use this whiteboard tool will be like.
I will be promptly cancelling my last scheduled exam.
