which is "Design Phase"
Dear community,
I have a question about "Design Phase",
Generally in contract is SD,DD,CD, Bid, CA for basic. Predesign and Post as additional.
Q1: What is meaning of Design Phase in exam? Is only SD and DD "design Phase" ?
Q2: Does CD, Bidding, CA are still "design phase" ?
Q3: Also what about Pre-Design? is it a Phase? is it a Design Phase?
So what is first two "Design Phase" mean in exam?
Thanks for reply! would be very helpful

A real ARE 5.0 exam question will give you more context. For example, for design-bid-build, design phases includes SD, DD and CD.
CD is still part of design phase, bidding is not. CA is part of construction phase as its name implies: construction administration.
Pre-design is not part of design phase, it is “Pre” design phase.

Thanks Chen Gang, very helpful,
So another question is do we need Quality Review or Quality control meeting at Pre-Design Phase?
Since Predesign is additional service generally not in contract, and it is an idea and resource collection process, if we do treat Predesign as a Phase, do we need some Quality control meeting during or at end?
Thanks!

It is a good practice to have quality control at each phase. It is also important to have the client signed off for each phase before you proceed to the next. This way, if the client changes his mind later, you can charge for the changes.
You can include a certain number of quality control meetings in your additional service request, or you can include a per-meeting charge if you are not sure if a meeting is necessary or how many meetings are needed.
