online exam
I'm devastated.
I had an online proctored PA exam last night & lost total of 11-13 minutes of my "ending exam time".
Reason why: My time was still running out as the proctor started reading the break time policy to me! I lost 2-3 minutes there & decided not to get stressed over it.
But then again, I lost another 9-10 minutes when I came back from my break & was being re-inspected. I kept notifying the proctor that my time is running out & asking for instructions but the proctor did not comprehend ... & did not have any suggestions when finally did understand my concern : /
It's so unfair; the last portion of the exam is very crucial because we speed up trying to cover more questions. I was hoping to boost my energy using a break but instead, I lost the chance to answer questions which may have flipped the result for me :(
I don't know where to appeal?
There's more:
- It would take a very very long time for the readiness agent to show up to start the exam after Launching.
- There were numerous system check fails which had never happened when I would perform a system check test!
- And there was no tech help available. The chat option only becomes available "after" our system passes the check!
- Multiple lost connections happened which was never on my side & as a result of all of the above I sat >6 hours for my exam.
- BTW, I was asked to flip the mirror that was suggested to be put in the room & the list continues!

Noosheen,
Thank you for sharing your disheartening experience with the rest of the community.
I would be curious to know where is the quality control part is on Proctor's end? Test takers are being affected by Proctors with poor internet connection, lag, not knowing proctor rules etc.. It is really important everyone comes forward their negative/ positive remote proctored exam experience.
Hope you pass your exam!

Nosheen, thanks for documenting your online exam experience. I read this before my PA online exam yesterday and did not risk taking a break due to fear that the clock would keep running.
My exam crashed 3/4 of the way into the exam, and when I managed to reconnect, the re-inspection and readout of break rules process indeed took no less than 15 min. Luckily, the clock and exam picked up where the exam crashed without time penalty, but losing that much time would've been very stressful. Also, the whiteboard experience is usable as a way to solve math problems. Using pen tool to write out a simple number like 980 was a struggle, gave up and used calculator to keep track of numbers. Cannot imagine trying to solve an actual equation on a harder exam with the whiteboard.

I did not have any issues like this.
It sounds that you pressed the "restart test" or "end break" (can't remember what it was) button before being re-inspected after your break. I believe you are not supposed to do that.
I came back from my break, opened the chat box, typed "I'm back", then waited for the proctor to finish the inspection procedure. Then they said "you can resume your exam". So after that you'd press the "restart test" button.
Time dedicated to the inspections should be part of the break time, not part of the exam time.
