Format for numerical answers?
Hi, I have been using Black Spectacles exams to prepare. Sometimes, when the answer is a number to be calculated, I have gotten the right answer, but because I used commas and decimals they marked it incorrect. For example, the answer (per Black Spectacles) was $1250000, and I answered $1,250,000.00. Will the real exam be the same? Should I always eliminate decimals and commas in my numerical responses? Please help me, thank you.

Generally no commas. For decimals usually the question will ask to round to the nearest whole number, tenth, hundredth, etc. Obviously, occupancy and fixture counts won't be a fraction. Read the questions carefully and mind your units (ie: lbs vs kips, cubic yard vs cubic foot, etc.).

I've been using amber book, which suggests there is some 'behind the scenes' rounding allowed that isn't explicitly described in the question. For example, if you round your results in an early step of the arithmetic, so your final result is slightly off from the 'official' answer but in the right ball park you would still get credit for a correct answer.
Im having trouble understanding how this would work and im not convinced its true... anyone know?
