    Hey David,

The year is from your first attempt. The retake policy is not based on a calendar year. So if you took an exam yesterday (12/1/19) and failed, you can retake that same division two more times between today and 11/30/20. Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks Nick for the response.  What would be the outcome if David took the 3rd test on 12/1/20 and did not pass?  (No offense David)

    Hey Jason,

Good question! The 12-month window continues to move, so this is what the hypothetical testing history could look like:

    12/1/19 - Fail

    2/23/20 - Fail

    6/20/20 - Fail

In this situation, the candidate could retest again (fourth attempt) on 12/2/20 since they can have 3 tests within any 12-month period of time. If they failed their fourth attempt on 12/2/20, they would need to wait until 2/24/21 to retest. You can take a test as many times as you need to earn a pass, but can still only have 3 exams within the 12-month window.

    Hopefully this makes sense!

    Hi,

I was about to start a new thread when I found this existing one. So there is no such thing as a "year stop" after the third fail? I was talking to a test candidate once and that's what they suggested, but I was looking for this rule in the handbook and could not find it. Could it be the person was misreading the 12-month window? Can you please confirm?

    Thanks!
