PcM Pass 2nd Try!!!

I took PcM today and pass on my 2nd try. I have struggled with the ARE exams and want to encourage others. My strategy going into the retake was to start with the areas I passed the first time taking the exam and then moving to those sections I failed. I used four Exam prep material(AHPP, Designer Hacks, Blackspecs and Hyperfine). I used the exam like material to help guide me and show me where I needed to improve. Hyperfine really helps you narrow the reading scope of AHPP. I used designer hacks as my little "quizzes" and I used blackspec as my measuring tool. Blackspectacles helped me identify areas I needed to improve, so if section 1.2 I missed a lot of questions, I would go and read sections in AHPP on that subject. This, in my opinion helped me to be successful this time around.

  Congrats on the pass. I failed my first attempt at PcM last week. Going to stick with it and retake in 60 days. I have been using only the Ballast Books (study guide, practice problems and practice exams) and PPI materials for my previous CE pass and now this fail, so I am looking at broadening my study material. I have a 16 month old daughter, which greatly hinders my study time and budget, so the month to month subscription services don't really work for me. Seems as though everyone got the AHPP, so i'll probably start with that.

  Shaun,

  AHPP is very important, it can be a lot to read. There are several only guides that will tell you what chapters are important. I suggest looking into hyperfine, it also is good into helping guide your study direction.

  I'm in the same boat as Shaun. I took the PcM last week and failed. I have two young children so that I have a tight budget and very little time. I also was mainly using the Ballast books to study with. I didn't find it helpful at all while taking the exam.

  I just ordered the AHPP and printed a couple of recommended reading lists. I'm considering getting Designer Hacks and  Hyperfine. I can make both of those work in my budget.
