Concrete slab on grade vs mat or raft foundation
Safe to say that they are the same ?
Thanks again

Not so much. While a raft/mat foundation is a type of concrete slab on grade, it is used to support loads like a conventional concrete footing would in that it distributes the load to the soil below, only over a much larger area. Think of it like a very big spread footing. A typical slab on grade does not support loads and is the concrete put down between footings (which support the load).
