Structures - Finding Maximum Moment
Hi,
I made up the attached question based on various examples I've seen come across in the Ballast & Black Spectacles practice exams with conflicting information. Any idea if I'm doing the calculations right?
The question is how to find the maximum moment for a simply supported beam with both a uniformly distributed load AND a concentrated load.
Thank you!

I had a similar question on my exam and it stumped me, so much so that I remembered and asked my Structural Engineer about it the next day. From what he told me, what you have done is correct. What stumped me was non of my study materials had covered the combined loads, so I didn't think that it was as simple as just adding the loads together, but it is.
