Electrical Conversions
Hi everyone,
I made up this question to practice if I'm doing the KVA to Volt to Amp conversions right. Any insights if my math is correct would be greatly appreciated!
Question: If you have 100 kVA, 50, kVA, 8 kV and 300 V, how many amps do you have?
My math..
Step 1: Convert
100 kVA = 100*1,000 = 100,000 VA
50 kVA = 50*1,000 = 50,000 VA
8 kV = 8*1,000 = 8,000 V
300 V (already in volts so no need to convert)
Step 2: Add volts and volt-amps
8,000 V + 300 V = 8,300 V
100,000 VA + 50,000 VA = 150,000 VA
Step 3: Find Amps
150,000 VA / 8,300 V = 18.1 Amps
