Hi All
Testing in a few days and was hoping anyone had examples of how to use this equation:
(Uw x Aw) + (Uop x Aop) / Atotal wall
w=window
op=wall
And if you need the RValue remember that R = 1 / U Value.
Is it as simple as the (U value of the window x the area of the window ) + (U value of the opaque portion of the wall x the area of the opaque portion of the wall) / the total wall area?
If so assuming the area of the windows and area of the opaque portion should add up to total wall area, correct?

Looks like the formula to find the average R value of the wall.
This is then part of the overall calculations for heat loss to size the heat source of the structure.
Per highest temperature loss day, you do not want a heat source to large due to the wasted capacity. Like using a diesel to power a VW. Lots of wasted energy. Then you do not want to small, due to obvious reasons.
