Woohoo! Passed my first ARE exam on my first try! I spent about 3 months on/off studying for this exam and used the following resources:
- PPI2Pass - both the book and the online resources
- Schiff Hardin - Hanahan Lectures
This is by far the exam I was dreading the most because my brain doesn't care/work with this kind of information, so I did a lot of researching and understanding of every topic as much as my brain could comprehend. I also took a lot of practice exams and studied what I didn't know and looked out for ways to use process of elimination to decide on the correct answers.
This is quite a difficult to pass - you really need to comprehend the topics enough to analyze various scenarios. I definitely didn't get an exam that asked something as simple as "what's the meaning of (word)?" Be sure you understand organization types REALLY well, how accounting works and its equations, and all the different types of project types (DB, DBB, IPD, etc). My exam only had a handful questions about contract related items.
Also, I definitely took all 2 hours, 45 minutes to take the exam and wished I had about 30 minutes more!! This was surprising because during my practice exams, I only took about 1.5 hours to complete and review everything twice. I felt like I did the best I could, but with the level of difficulty, I wasn't confident about passing.
