Hello everyone. I don't typically post on public forums, but I really felt the need to let everyone know about AMBER BOOK. https://amber-book.com/ and first let me say that I am in no way being compensated for posting this ad.
So I began taking my ARE's back in 2013 or so, under ARE 4.0. I basically got about half way thru, taking a test and then work/life. Take a test, months go by more work/life. I purchased what most people do, the Ching Books (good for practice tests) the Ballast Manual for studying for the ARE, and the Kaplan Study guides. there were a few tests that I had a difficult time with (like a lot of people.) but got about 1/2 way thru. Fast forward to January/February of 2019. At this point, I needed to take Programming and Site Analysis to transition to ARE 5.0 and only have 2 tests to complete the ARE. I was pretty excited. With time running out, I took Programming (for the 2nd time) and Passed. Nice. I was on my way, just needed to pass the Site test and transition to have PPD and PDD left and VIOLA, Registered. (Long time goal.)
as you can imagine, I studied hard and took the Site Planning test. (Failed.)
This meant that I was out of time and had to Transition to ARE 5.0 and needed to PASS programming (just passed in 4.0... you can imagine my frustration....) and PPD and PDD.
So the crunch was on. I had until May 10th to pass 3 exams and I literally had 3 months. (May 10th was the exact day my 5 year rolling clock would expire - and only God knows how many tests I would have to retake, IF not ALL of them....) So, I signed up and took PDD (really thought it was going to be extremely difficult, but to my surprise, I felt really plugged into the test and nailed it.) that gave me confidence boost and I signed up for PPD the following week, only to Fail. (although my score report said I was only deficient in 1 area from not passing) I really felt like I just bombed it.
Now still having only about 3 months, and not the ability (or luxury) to take each of those remaining tests twice, I literally had 1 shot to pass them both in a 2.5/3 month period.
That's when a co-worker of mine told me about Amber Book. I was pretty Hesitant to buy anymore study material, as I thought that with all I already had, I just needed to really pour it on. However the thing that really made me look at it, was the fact that it was videos. I personally get burnt out reading, especially the vast amount needed to prepare for the ARE. When I looked on the website, saw the price, I first thought.... I don't know. That's a lot of money. Then quickly looked at the calendar and punched in my credit card information. :)
I subscribed for 2 months. I really tried to get thru all the material in 30 days, but I fell just about a week short of my goal. The videos are broken down into individual segments from 20-30 minute long videos to ones just over/ around an hour in length. Perfect for studying at night and weekends.
In the end, I had my last two exams scheduled for May 3rd (PA) and May 10th, yes the final day of my rolling clock (PPD). Passed PA, studied extremely hard for the final week until the 10th (re-watching some of Michael's videos) and went into Prometric feeling very confident and Passed. My LAST EXAM ON THE LAST DAY of my rolling clock.
All in all, I am SO glad I found out about Amber book. I just recently learned that they do not really advertise. Its all word of mouth. All I can say is that I wished I knew about his study material much earlier in my career, I think anyone who uses his study material could easily pass all the exams in a 4-6 month period.
after listening to some of the other content providers out there, I can say that Amber book is very cognisant of people's time, and approaches their presentation in that manner. Other's seemed long winded and took a long time to get to the point, whereas this was clear, clean, concise with plenty of graphic images to drive home and help you retain some of the more difficult study concepts.
I felt like the videos were extremely well produced, good sound and image quality and completely worth every penny.
You will not be sorry for purchasing his study material, and I strongly suggest that you use Amber book to get prepared to pass the sections of the ARE...
