I strongly recommend yo to go over the AHPP 15 edition, I don't see any mention of that in your post. I understand the language barrier, it happens to me as well; it took me 3 times to nail CE, and I already failed PCM once, and I am preparing for retake it in August. My advice, don't see language as a barrier but as an opportunity to do better, also designer hacks is a pretty good tool to get to the basis. Financial management can be tricky but not impossible at all; overhead, break even, and the net multiplier are very well presented on the AHPP. Faith and good luck.

Thank you Gustavo. Yes, AHPP 15th Edition is one of my first sources. I do have it. I also have the question from Designer Hacks. The things I struggle with PcM are situations that the exam shows and I do not see how to respond. They all have to do with overhead rate. C&E is one that I passed in my first attempt, actually I think it was the first one to pass and I found it very easy.

I took PcM so may times that I have seen the same questions over and over and I specially remember those that I found difficult, so I work with those when I prepare the exam.

Now, I started preparing P&A and I will stick to it and PcM until I get to pass them. The painful part is the cost of the exam.

Thank you. I sill continue trying to find someone in Jacksonville, FL to set a study group.

Tell me about the cost, not making that much already so...About the questions, I used to think that they were tricky, truth is the push, obligate you to be aware of every piece of information, so you need to really read them, in my case I tend to read too fast and that is not a good thing. My solution, and it may sound to simple, repetition, we are not actually studying but training, at least when I changed my way of face it it made quite a difference, and training means repetition. About the money, focus on the future

I have experience of having test for ARE 4.0 and also for other things. I never had the feeling that there are tricky questions and, in fact, I truly believe that the exams are straight forward and sometimes even easy. I am so, so close to pass PcM that I cannot believe I did not pass it yet. I need to find someone who understand one or two things and I will be done. The case studies are not easy to navigate. Maybe some are easier to navigate than others but having all the information in one single screen does not help. I have a vision problem and the size of the calculator does not help and when I review calculation I always get to a different problem. NCARB has offered accommodation but they do not help with the information that I am providing. They request the inform by my doctor in letterhead paper but since word processors exist, professionals have stopped using letter head paper (actually in the two firms that I have worked in the last 18 years, they do not had letterhead paper, they only have a header that is printed in every word document. I submit the doctor's reports three times that they always find a problem. There is no interest to help and they make me feel as if I would be trying to fake a medical condition. They treat you like a number, not like  you are a person. I know my vision problem will be a big deal when I start taking the two long exams.

About studying, I read and reread and always something stays. I practice the questions but at this point I know the answers by heart. Ballast, Brightwood, Black Spectacles and Designer Hacks. I know the answers by heart.

Rodolfo, I'm sorry to hear about your financial problems struggles.  I have had a difficult time with that portion as well, and felt like it never really "clicked" for me until my 3rd try taking PcM.  I could remember the formulas but not necessarily understand them.

I used YouTube to search for videos describing different financial concepts until I finally felt like it was making sense.  I also felt like there is a lack of financial questions/resources so I used ones I found (from the Handbook, from Ballast, etc.) as a model to come up with my own questions for me to solve.  I would change the numbers enough to understand the impact they had.

If I remember correctly, Pluralsight had a few examples and explanations in their PcM/PjM series
    https://www.pluralsight.com/courses/are-vol-1-practice-mgmt
    https://www.pluralsight.com/courses/are-vol-2-project-mgmt

Sometimes switching up the materials can be good and have a refreshing new take.  I felt like I kept re-reading the same stuff over and over again, thinking I was understanding it because it was familiar but I wasn't really "getting" it.  Take a break if you feel like you need to, sometimes coming back with a clear head can help.  Good luck moving forward.

    Hi Kelly,

Thanks a lot for the link  and your views. I checked the links and I did not find it very expensive, actually otherwise. I do not  feel like I need new material. I feel I need more sample questions. Unfortunately, I can;t display the type of questions that I think are causing me more problems. But I will continue studying. I have started reading for Programming, which my freindo told me that is easy to prepare. So, I want to joggle PcM and PA untill I get to pass them.

Could you please tell me a little bit more about Pruralsight? Are just videos or they have something else? is is live or you can watch them anytime? Do they offer exam practice and flash cards as in Black Spectacles?

Thanks a lot! Keep in touch

Hello Rodolfo, I scanned through your post. I didn’t see the amber series posted as a studying reference. I think this one best explains the finance jargon and problems. Best of Luck!

    Hi,

    https://amber-book.com/are-5-exam-bundle/

There is a sign up post in this NCARB community, so you can get discounts. The professor is really good at explaining concepts of all things regarding the exams.

I will look for the sign up post.
